What is the CPCV (promissory contract) and how does it work?

Answer updated 18 October 2026Independent guide
Short answer

The CPCV is a preliminary contract where buyer and seller agree on terms, price, and deadlines. The buyer usually pays a deposit (sinal). If either party backs out, penalties may apply. It is legally binding, so review it carefully with a lawyer before signing.
